Creative Concealment, Sound Treatment Stand Out
This is one of the smallest dedicated theaters Admit One Home Systems had ever done, but it turned into a big example of innovation and inspiration. For starters, the location of an open staircase was “an acoustical nightmare,” Admit One’s Kristin Reinitz says.
Two things stand out with the resulting gem Admit One delivered, Reinitz says. “First of all, the theater is hidden behind a handleless double door that is guarded by a large image of Audrey Hepburn. You wouldn’t even know the theater was there,” she says, adding that the doors help confine the sound.
“The overall aesthetics of the theater stand out as well. Almost the entire room is covered in different styles of Artnovion panels.” The solution includes Myron diffusers on the side walls, Helen panels in front and on part of the back wall with a decorative strip of panels, and Sahara panels on the entire ceiling — but leaving space for two Dolby Atmos ceiling channels.
A mix of Focal speakers and Sunfire subwoofers serves up surround sound from an Anthem MRX 1120 receiver. A Sony VPLVW675ES projector fires onto a Screen Innovations 140-inch 2.35:1 Zero Edge microperf screen for the superb images.
