Textured Theater

Subtle Sound

This summer vacation home had its challenges. The client had poor experiences in past homes and was concerned about hearing the theater throughout the house. The size & location were a challenge in designing this theater. The theater was located at the bottom of the open staircase which was an acoustical nightmare. The design-forward solution to combat this challenge was to cover the walls in the Avalon Artnovian Acoustic Panels which absorbed the echo and created a wall pattern that flows, morphing according to your point of view.

Two things really grab people right away with this theater. First, the theater is hidden behind a handleless double door that is guarded by a large image of Audrey Hepburn. You wouldn’t even know the theater was there. Second, the textured walls and ceiling were created by using Artnovion Acoustic Panels which gives dimension and movement throughout the space. These panels helped with sound quality, kept the sound in, and added a solution that was both beautiful and efficient.
