2020 CEDIA Awards – Best Documentation

Great documentation is essential for a project of this scale and complexity.

As is the case with excellent documentation such as this, the mission of the materials is twofold: First, it must allow for anyone to be able to come in and troubleshoot and/or upgrade the system using the documentation as a precise guide.

The next consideration: Does it act as yet another asset for the homeowner? Can it become another integral part of the home should it ever be sold or passed on to another generation?

This project also won Highly Commended honors in the Best Integrated Home, Level IV category. CEDIA’s judges noted that the provided documentation would be just what another integrator – even an electrician – would want to see should they need to work on this system.

And this is quite the complex system: 13 video zones, 32 audio zones, 75 lighting loads, and four fan locations. The home features 75 window treatments that include motorized rollers, Roman shades, and drapery tracks.

Additionally, “The security system has four touch-screen keypad control locations. All the exterior doors around the property are monitored, but not only the main doors and garages but also the various maintenance doors and pool house. Water sensor locations keep an eye on mechanical devices and areas likely to have water leakage around the property. Heat and smoke sensors are located throughout the house, as well as carbon monoxide alarms. Security cameras cover the property. The home Wi-Fi is overseen by an Access Networks Sophos custom system connected to seven Ruckus Zoneex R510 indoor access points and one B300 outdoor access point.”
